The Dades Gorge! Just AWSOME and very little traffic. An amazing ride at over 100km in length!
I have ridden in Morocco a few times. I want to check out a tour that has the potential to be amazing. To make the research real....I need 6 to 10 guinea pig roadies who are up for a cut priced trip with the chance of a 150km cyclo sportive into the bargain!!!
This is a 7 night and 6 day ride trip that is out of this world! The scenery is far, far better than any photo can do justice. The food is great. The weather is superb. All the ingredients for a very memorable time.
I'll pick you up or have you picked up from the airport and drop you back again when all is done and dusted.
April is a great time of the year for this type of ride in Morocco. The terrain is still green from the winter rains and the air is now warming up as spring moves nto summer.
Bring clothing to cater for the nippy morning air and a rain jacket just in case!!
This is a very tough road trip. You need to be in good shape and at the top end of your endurance game. Training in zones 1,2 and 3 are a must and riding in 1 and 2 (during trip) should be your target to avoid fatigue build up. Eat little and often and drink fluids on a very regular basis.
The total distance could be 760km with 12,700m of elevation gain! That averages 125km per day over rolling/mountainous terrain
As a guide you ought to be able to ride at an average pace of 20kph during each day of the trip.
The roads are far quieter than you think. On some there is very little use at all by vehicles.
There are 6 consecutive ride days in total
Airport to Arfourer
We need to to arrive to the airport before 1pm. If your flight gets in too late then see about a flight for the day before. We can help you organise a place to stay and get there from the airport. We will then take your bike boxes to our storage facility for the week and load bikes onto the bike transport van. NOTE: Bring some protective tubing (ie insulation) for some extra peace of mind
DAY TWO (RIDE DAY 1)
Arfourer to Imilchil
The first day is the hardest! 143km with a massive 4225m of altitude gain or AG for short. Stay in your zones, eat little and often and get plenty of fluids into yourself. Do this and all will be fine!! https://www.strava.com/routes/10749813
DAY THREE (RIDE DAY 2)
Imilchil to Ait
Later this moring we begin the amazing ride along the Dades Gorge. All we will be on it for the rest of the day as it is around 100km long! We ride 134km with a total AG of 1620m. So, a good deal easier than yesterday. We have a totally awsome place to stay tonight and great food too! https://www.strava.com/routes/10749824
DAY FOUR (RIDE DAY 3)
Ait to Tissargate
164km today or 102 miles in old money! But a lot of today is downhill and on the flat. hence we only climb a total of 1150m https://www.strava.com/routes/10750124
A fairly tough day at 158k's and 2400m of AG. A medium to hard sportive in Frnace is around this level but we are not 'belting' along. Are we? Easy does it and enjoy the scenery! https://www.strava.com/routes/10750426
Today is planned to get you back to Marrakech in good form without being tired. Only 80 flat-ish km's that climb a mere 581m. We will be on bike for 8.30 to 9 and take it all the way to the Riad in under 4 hrs including stops. This leaves you all afternoon to chill and get some of the sights in. Dinner tonight will be a feast and then we can pop out to the night market https://www.strava.com/routes/10753491
